may be some problem with kernel recompiling.
have you check which options in network catagory are checked while doing make
menuconfig?

Hai friends,
actually i want ipv6 supported kernel .so i got the
kernel-2.4.18-5.rpm and installed with --nodeps option.
but while booting its not starting eth0
while the system is booting
i get the following message
Bringing up interface lo: [OK]
Bringing up interface eth0: Delaying eth0 initialization.
[FAILED].
iam getting the same message if i type
[root@localhost etc]/etc/init.d/network restart
please help
if i press [root@localhost ~]ifconfig
i can see only lo
but not eth0
but in the previous kernel that came with installation of redhat 7.0
while booting its giving the same message as the new kernel
but in this kernel if i type
[root@localhost ~]# ifconfig
i can see both eth0 and lo
and also i cannot telnet form a remote box to this box
but i can see telnet,wu-ftp in /ect/xinet.d
please help me iam in need
