Just my personal view. Avoid ALL proprietory  formats if it is
the issue of portability that you are looking at. If  you save
in .rtf format, you can take any file from  M$-Word  to almost
any Linux WP  like KWord/ Abiword/ Ted/ Maxwell etc  and  vice
versa. Oh yes, all Mac WPs also read .rtf.

Similarly, .htm/ .html is another portable format.

Recommendation: $all_proprietory_formats > /dev/null
