i had to add a -c and then it worked like magic. Thanks to Devdas.
su - amavis -c /usr/sbin/amavisd

| These are bash errors. The script is being treated as bash scripts.

| 1. You have no perl in /usr/bin -remember it is a sym link to perl binary.
