hallo friends,
i am facing a typical problem in installing the openssl & openssh in my
RHL6.2 ((zoot)on i586) pc. i have downloaded the following files from
rpmnetfind -
openssl-0.9.5a-7.6.x.i386.rpm
openssh-2.9p2-14.6.x.i386.rpm
openssh-clients-2.9p2-14.6.x.i386.rpm
openssh-server-2.9p2-14.6.x.i386.rpm
and installed these by rpm -Uvh openss* --nodeps (without dependency check)
and then restarted the SSH daemon by /etc/rc.d/init.d/sshd restart. But this
gave the following error message -
$Stopping sshd: [FAILED]
$Generating SSH1 RSA host key: [FAILED]
If i do ssh user@server it gives error in loading shared libraries:
libcrypto.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
ssh-keygen -t rsa (or dsa) also gives the same error. So i went to install
the openssl source rpm and compile it to create the libcrypto. For that i
downloaded openssl-0.9.4-2.src.rpm, installed it and did make. After a
pretty long time it was installed, but still having the same problem. It
seems that libcrypto is not created. Can any one suggest me what to do in
this situation?
With many thanks and regards,
Somen Chanda.
