Hi

I am running some test on postgres and I find that top shows about 80% as nice
CPU time, 5%user 10% system etc.. Obviously throughput is not a big deal good..

My question is what exactly is nice time? and How can I reduce it.. Postgres
daemon is running at priority 5 and all other (my)apps running at same priority
are screaming fast. Couple of benchmark programs when run starts filling CPU
with 50% user and 50% system. On this background, 80%nice looks rather lame to
me..

Any solutions?

Bye
 Shridhar
