Hello Friends,

I am running Bind 8.2.3 on a Debian Potato machine. It is a gateway with 2 NICs, one
local and the other with a Static IP. My /etc/resolv.conf is like this

search .
nameserver 192.168.192.5 # local IP
nameserver 12.0.0.1

In this setup when I try nslookup, I am getting an error

gnusvr01:/home/fme# nslookup www.gnu.org
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.192.5: No response from server
Server: localhost
Address: 127.0.0.1

Name: www.gnu.org
Address: 199.232.41.10

But if I put nameserver 127.0.0.1 before nameserver 192.168.192.5 this error wont come.
Where I have gone wrong.

Regards
