df* - data files (mesg body)
qf* - header files
xf* - temporary state files which dont get deleted sometimes

The GNU ghostscript supports native conversion of postscript
files to pdf format. Since ver 5.x, a bash script is included
with the original ghostscript tarball called "ps2pdf". Invoke
as 'ps2pdf infile.ps outfile.pdf'
