Net::SMTP makes it much simpler for a coder to allow for an open relay.

Fix the script. (Use a postfix rpm to stop worrying about the sendmail
binary). IIRC, exim, postfix and qmail also provide sendmail compatible
binaries.
Force the use of SMTP auth? That will break every other formmail.pl other
than yours?
