hi,

I have a system running Redhat 7.2 that has a wireless
and a wired ethernet card. I want the wireless to use
one IP address, and the wired to use a different
address. The trouble is, if I unplug them and plug
them in a different order, then the first one becomes
eth0 and the second becomes eth1. Eth0 always has the
same IP address.

Let me put this another way - if both are unplugged,
and I plug in the wireless card, I want it to be eth1,
but it becomes eth0 with the wrong IP address. I've
tried changing
/etc/modules.conf
/etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth1
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 No matter
whan I do, when I plug in the wireless card, it says:
"Registered netdevice eth0"
