hi
i have done an installation o RH7.3 from harddisk.and i can help u
with that.but plz do specify which version of redhat u r abt to install.
any way for RH7.3 i'll tell u.
1.Get Hold of the ISO's or create one from the cd's like this
#dd if=/dev/cdrom of=cdx.iso
where x stands of 1,2,3..
2.Put them in a seperate partition(fstype=ext2)
note: that partition shud not be a part of installation(i.e it shud
be in a sep device and
)
3.now create a boot disk.mount the cd 1 go to the images directory.
there will be a file called boot.img
give
#dd if=boot.img of=/dev/fd0
4.now insert the boot disk and start the installation
pls note the iso's are to be named in such a manner that redhat
installtion program
can recognise it .in my machine for Rh7.3 the names go like this
valhalla-i386-disc1.iso, valhalla-i386-disc2.iso, and
valhalla-i386-disc3.iso
if u r version of redhat differs from mine see redhat.com for naming the
isos
dump all the images into a single dir.
when the installation program prompts for the device and path give the
appropriate device and
path .
and then installation is pretty straight forward
do revert back if u have any issues
Happy hacking
