The most common cause after power failures is file system corr-
uption. Please run e2fsck from a rescue disk or any stand alone
distro (like tomsrtbt). Since your / is to be checked it should
not be mounted.

larger than 64 mb, in which case, the following are needed:
a) to lilo.conf add: 'append = "mem=255M"' (for 256 mb RAM)
