hmm.  have you tried unloading and reloading the network module - 
assuming you have it compiled as a module.

not sure if it will work.

still, for your purposes, a better option would be to take a base 
reading when you start up, and then just subtract that from the current 
value.  you can store your base in a file if it needs to stay across 
runs.
