for Tathagata Banerjee i bought a new ide hdd yesterday. my vendor claims it's a 7200-rpm drive, instead of the common 5400-rpm thing. is there any utility in linux for checking this out? hdparm probably can't do it; there was no mention of this function in its manpage.
using the model, from seagate site you get full detailsincluding speed. regarding 32 bit you have to put it in /etc/rc.local as hdparm -c 1 /dev/hdax -- L.V.Gandhi 203, Soundaryalahari Apartments, Lawsons Bay colony, Visakhapatnam, 530017 MECON, 5th Floor, RTC Complex, Visakhapatnam AP 530020 INDIA ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
