hello friends,
recently i tried to install pcql7.1 in my new machine which had
win98 preloaded. the samsung 20gb hdd was partioned as pri-dos
6.5gb, ext-dos 12gb in which two logical drives d: & e: were of
equal vol.
i tried to remove the drive e: and partion it as '/', 'swap',
'/usr' and '/home' leaving the other drive d: unchanged. but disk
druid could not assign the partition '/' as because 'cylinder >
1024'. can anyone suggest me what to do in this situation?
then i deleted d: also and tried the same again. but the same
problem persisted. ultimately it could assign the partion '/' only
when i deleted pri-dos and recreated it with a 4gb size by 'fdisk'
with one logical drive d: in ext-dos. this d: could be deleted and
'/' could be created by disk-druid. but then, if i want to keep a
'dos16bit>=32m' partition as '/dosd', it can not be transferred to
the ext-dos partition, i.e. no d: is recognized by windows even if
i do fdisk from linux to write dos table in /dev/hda6 (i.e. in
/dosd partition)! can anyone suggest me what is the possible
wayout?

thanking you for your kind attention,
sincere yours,
somen chanda.
