http://www.linuxvalley.it/encyclopedia/ldp/guide/sag/x538.html has decription of linux filesystems( not technical)
"The /var contains data that is changed when the system is running normally. It is specific for each system, i.e., not shared over the network with other computers. " As you see data in the /var will continue to grow as you use the system. Since you are running as workstation(assumed) , the rate os growth can be small. Check the available space daily. ( command is df ) Delete various unwanted files( log files etc.) (Upgrade the hard disk in the next available occation, anyway ) -Jayan --- Diwakar Agnihotri <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I get this warning when I boot: > > partmon: Warning, free space for </var> is only > <43463> (which is inferior to <50000> > > The size of /var on my mdk8.2 machine is 108 MB > (Journalised FS: ext3) > > I've installed GNU/Linux in a 4 GB partition with > 243 MB swap space and 2.2 GB for /home. > > Diwakar > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek > Welcome to geek heaven. > http://thinkgeek.com/sf > _______________________________________________ > linux-india-help mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
