Load sharing as the name suggests is to share the Load.

The load can be anything from your Network traffic, file server,
Authentication server, NIS server, Database Servers or simple apllications.
You feel the load on any of the Servers or applications is much you
distribute it to multiple Nodes, routers or whatever you feel comfortable.
Google around for sharing of load for specific tasks. You have various
analyser Softwares to analyse the laod on your network ( you get both
graphical & statistical outputs). So analyse what is taking much of your
bandwidth & then share the resources.
