No.

Netscape did not go open source, they came out with a browser called
mozilla, which is open source, under the Mozilla Public Licence. This
is different from the GNU GPL. Specifically (if I understand
correctly), it gives Netscape the copyright on all code - this is
necessary if they are to be able to release a closed source version.

Every now and then, parts of mozilla are moved into Netscape and
released as Netscape.

You could say that mozilla is an experimental browser, with Netscape
being the results of these experiments.

hackers and geeks love to play with bleeding edge tech. mozilla bleeds
while netscape just gets towed along.

if you use the netscape classic theme, yes. You can also make mozilla
look like Internet Explorer.
