I am not sure of pine. The usual syntax used for this type
of access by SMTP mailers like pmail is as follows:

hostname:reply_address:id:passwd
[e.g: nde.vsnl.net.in:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:bish:password]
 
A shot in the dark ... might work ...
