Hello everybody, My friend has got a problem playing CD Audio. He has a Compaq Presario with Maestro3 sound card and is able to play all kinds of music (MP3, Ogg, etc) except CD Audio. The CD Players seem to play the audio CDs but no sound is heard.
I tried to maximize CD volume using aumix without any success. Still no sound. I even tried killing artsd and esd, but still no success. Then I tried to play the Audio CD as root. No success. Any other thing I can try ? Please help. This problem has stayed across all distros he has tried (RedHat7.1, Mandrake 8.1, Debian 3.0). Presently he is on Debian 3.0. (By the way, audio CDs play well under WindowsME on the same computer).
