In any case, I think it dealt with > XFree86 3.x, not 4.x. last time I checked 4.x didn't support SiS6215. > Well, am using SiS6215c card and XFree86 4.2, no problems. In fact, with MDK8.2, I had to go to XFree86 4.2, since the standard installation of XFree86 3.x would not work with the SiS6215c properly. Now on Debian and XFree86 4.2. The trick is to edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file- 1.Under Section "Device", change to Driver "vesa" & VideoRAM 2048 2.Under Section "Screen", change to DefaultDepth 16 SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1024x768" "800x600" EndSubsection That's all, reboot and you will be fine, and will be able to switch between 1024x768 and 800x600. Have used this successfully for RH6.0 upto RH7.2, MDK8.2 and Debian Woody. Oh... my monitor is also not recognised, but I use it as a generic monitor, works fine.
