Get an Intel NIC. This is a loaded environment, DLink will cause
problems.

Not so much. 15 clients is a small number. A good server with loads of
RAM (256 MB/512 recommended) will fly.

Nah. Don't run vulnerable services, or for that matter any services
except squid and syslog and that too only on localhost.
