either that, or there are others who have this problem, but they only 
read replies to mails that they post.  we'll know soon enough if they 
post the same question.

btw, you might want to try some other non-official clients to see if the 
problem is common across all.  try GNUYahoo, centericq or everybuddy for 
example.  Everybuddy will probably be too heavy to download just for 
testing, so go with one of the text based ones instead.

You could also just try the sample client that comes with libyahoo2, 
which is the lightest of the lot (and requires that you read the source 
to figure out how to use it).

Other things you can try... edit yahoo.c in gaim/src/protocols/yahoo and 
search for where they write the packet.  if the number immediately after 
the YMSG is 0x06, change it to 0x09 and see if that helps.  (Note, this 
might be #defined as YAHOO_PROTO_VER at the top of the file.
