u'll need free *unpartitioned* hard disk space to install linux. Which is
what fips does - resizes your partition. But if fips is not working
because of a bad sector or something ... try using some other paritioning
software like powerquest's partition magic or something ...or first scandisk then 
defrag your hard disk and then use fips
