What are the messages shown?
If it's a multi-boot system, boot your other OS and see what
happens? Does it identify the new slave drive?

Once the drive is identified, mounting is easy.
mount  -t  type  /dev/hdb1  /mountpoint
where hdb1 refers to the first partition of your Primary
Slave drive.
