I don't like xdm (and some other services) very much
so when I edited removed the sym link in rc2.d I
thought I had got rid of it. I did. But the Debian
still tries to shutdown xdm (and some other services),
a service that was never started in the first place.

So I am thinking maybe nuking files rcX.d isn't the
right way to do things in Debian but then what is?

Regards
