Hi,
I have one basic question. I was facing problems when setting up
PPP service on RH Linux 7.2. So after a Google search I found that
the pppd source code needs to be modified and pppd needs to be
reinstalled. So I downloaded the ppp package in .tar format. While
uninstalling the existing ppp*.rpm, a message indicating that
wvdial-*.rpm, rp3*.rpm etc depend on ppp*.rpm was observed. So I
uninstalled those depending rpms, uninstalled the ppp*.rpm. Then
after modifying the ppp source code, I installed the PPP package
using "./configure; make; make install;" commands. Now when I try
to reinstall wvdial*.rpm, rp3*.rpm etc, the system gives an error
message that ppp*.rpm is required and it is not installed.
What is the standard procedure in sorting out such issues where we
have to uninstall the rpms, (may be make some changes in the
source code) reinstall the package in .tar format and reinstall
the depending rpms ?
Thanks In Advance
Yogesh
