u can pass "linux emergency" as a parameter to the boot manager (lilo or grub) . linux emergency does nto start init process and gives u the prompt. then u can correct ur inittab file. the other way could be to boot into rescue mode, by typing "linux rescue" while booting from CD or if u have boot disks ready with u. u can write the minimum following after opening ur /etc/inittab file
id:3:initdefault: si::sysinit:/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit l3:3:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 3 1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty1 2:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty2 it should work. vineet On Fri, 2003-01-03 at 15:19, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Send linux-india-help mailing list submissions to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > You can reach the person managing the list at > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of linux-india-help digest..." > > ---- > > Today's Topics: > > 1.
