Hello all.. I was just visiting the linux site for some trouble shooting info and came across the mailing list.. cool!
Okay i was wondering if u could help me out with a problem i am having with my linux installation i have a win98/redhat linux 7.3 box on my laptop. It was divided into two partitions. One win98 partition and an extended partition that was divided into two to include my swap and linux ext3 partition. I had some left over space which i kept back for future use. Deciding that win98 didn\'t require the space i allocated for it, i resized the partition using partitionmagic. That left me with space between my win98 partition and the extended parition and i resized the extended partition, moved the swap space. Then i made a new ext2 partition between the swap and my exisiting linux partition. What all this comes down to is that when i try to boot with grub.. I can\'t.. I use a boot loader and grub is installed in the first sector of my partition (Atleast i think it is..) After going through the manuals of grub i finally got it to boot my kernel, which stops booting by saying that there is a kernel panic and it can\'t mount the root vfs block I used my boot floppy to the same result. I can access the partition fine, when i use linux rescue of my redhat installation disks.. But i don\'t know enough to get my installation working again.. If anyone can help me out.. Please leave me a mail.. Thank you for your time Yours Dhiraj ------------------------------------------------- Sify Mail - now with Anti-virus protection powered by Trend Micro, USA.
