Hi,
I am trying to set up a mailserver (RH linux 7.1+sendmail) on an IBM
eServer. The mail has to be retrieved via UUCP from another server (ernet.in
set-up). There are about 500 users and it seems that there are about 2500
mails in the remote server. It will take time to create the 500 users and
in the mean time the some of the users (the professors) want to use the email
system.
Now, the problem is that if we download the mails using UUCP,
sendmail simply bounces all mails addressed to users whose account has not
yet been created. This is simply not acceptable.
What we need is some way to deliver these mails to an account so
that as the users are created the mails can be forwarded to them manually. I
have tried using virtusertable but since UUCP+sendmail uses local
addresses (i.e. simply the user name) to deliver mail I had not success with
virtusertable.
Can someone provide any help or pointers? Suresh, can you help?
It seems I need to do magic in order to push Linux in a big way in our
Univ. (Calcutta University) and this is one of those tricks.
