If you have local mail server then local DNS is must, otherwise optional.
When the user puts say pop3.gmx.net as pop server, it should beYou have to tell Win to look up some DNS server on the net. Like with 202.54.1.30 (dns.vsnl.net.in). If you have used DHCP then it can be fed to every node during boot. Otherwise put in Network Properties - TCP/IP - DNS.

Will directly giving the pop3 server name of gmx and user id and password as we normally do for pop3 retrieval will work ?
