Hi List, I am referring to http://www.swcp.com/~jgentry/pers.html for installing RAS on my RedHat 7.3 box. It says ppp must be supported by my kernnel. When I did lsmod, it never showed ppp in, instead syncppp was there. I beleive syncppp is for ISDN. So do I need to recompile kernnel or syncppp will do??????? Reading kernnel HOW-TO and ppp-HOW-TO will take a long time and also I am not a Linux administrator or Network enginner. I can read them, it will take a long and I have to set my RAS by today itself. This is urgent
I will tell you my setup. I have an analogue modem that is connected to my Linux box. I want to allow people do dialin into this box using modem. I need ppp support (as document says). I will use PAP-Secrets for authentication. So can some one explain me , what is lacking. I have done mgetty in /etc/inittab and also set /etc/ppp/options.server. When we dialin, modems negotiate but after that nothing happpens. I can't understand /var/log/mgetty.log.ttyS0 (COM1). Help required !!!!!!!!!!!!
