Hi,
  What is the auth mechanism? Is it share level or user level?
  If it is user level then you have to add user using smbadduser.
  You can verify some test share with name tmp is given in the
 configuration file. There is one file called DIAGNOSIS.TXT 
   in my redhat distribution located at /usr/share/doc/samba-xxx/
   docs/textdocs/ directory. Read one by one and trouble shoot.
