1. Get a distro [RH, Deb, Mand - which ever u fancy or easier to get]i am Nilay, engg student,3rd year, electronics and comm, mumbai.i knew about linux, but got a great indepth knowlwdge when i attended the IIT-B techfest2003,and lectures of Dr.Richard Stallman and Ankit Fadia over there.i want to start linux.how do i do?refrence materials, books.internet's a great source but cant spend hours online.
2. Select a box [PI, II, III, IV, AMD] and check out whether the specs are supported at the distro's web site.
3. Install with all documentation. Do it yourself, it's very important. It doesn't hurt if you have to do it 10 times to get it right.
4. Get some fat book [e.g. Redhat Bible]
5. Screw up everything and then set it right.
6. Keep in touch
