I have no problems whatsoever with the Gigabyte DLink 810E mainboard on Both Mandrake 9.0 and Red Hat 8.0. So you should not have any problems with Debian as well.
Remember that the Distro is not "as dependent on the motherboard as the kernel is". Therefore as long as we all use the same
kernels (2.4.x series - preferably self-compiled) the Distribution is never going to matter on the compatibility issue.
The prize here in TN is very much the same infact ditto for
most of the components.
My keyboard is an ordinary Ritcomp PS/2 keyboard.
