The Real Time Clock in my PC is gone crazy; works whenever it feels like. Battery is new. While booting, linux tries to synch with the RTC at two places, and stops if it cannot. This can be bypassed with a 'cntrl+c'. The trouble comes while shutdown, linux tries to write to RTC, and if it cannot, stops. Only this time, 'cntrl+c' or anuthing cannot bypass and only solution is the power switch, making it an improper shutdown.
