I guess so. Most of us do it the same way. Your sources.list has a number of Debian pool mirrors. You could use the apt-spy util to find which Debian mirror is fastest for you and keep that as teh only apt source. apt-get install apt-spy. Each of the packages that you download, especially from non-debian mirrors might have been compiled with weird config options. Package configurations usually follow strict rules, but some packagers do add special patches to teh base packages which osmetimes make a system untable.
