Probably you need to have XMMS MP3 plugin which Redhat 8.0 has excluded due to patent/copuright issues. Get the plugin from xmms.org and that's it. If it's PCQLinux 8.0 you're talking about -- they have completely excluded XMMS from their distro (DARN!!).
