afaik, it depends on the file system being used. for e.g. if yu use a
FAT32 partition (win98), there is no security in there. anyone can come,
boot from a floppy and modify/delete the data. even if yu give passwords
during login, still yu can access all files. on the other hand if its
NTFS (win2k), its not that easy and when yu mount it in linux, yu get
read-only access. don't know what's the progress on ntfs compatibility,
left windows long ago, but heard that it was being worked on.
