Why is SuSe called the most proprietary of all Linux distribs? It uses
the same underlying packages. However, the installer Yast is
proprietary(and closed source, I think) which tinkers with every
possible package in the system which are all open source. So much so
that to bypass GPL restrictions, it is reported to avoid linking by
running external programs as subprocesses and controlling them via
pipes - sacrificing performance to save on licensing problems.

I would call your setup proprietary - the service that it provides
(easy firwall managemnt) is completely proprietary even though the
underlying tools are open source.
