Should work unless you have not made the .db file out of it by
running makemap. viz.

# cd /etc/mail
# /usr/sbin/makemap hash access.db < access

To reverse the characters in a file use the rev command.  e.g.
If there is a file called Hello with just "Hello World" in it:
$cat Hello ... output is ... Hello World
$rev Hello ... outout is ... dlroW olleH !!
