Don't take offense - they are letting you design a 5000 node network?

Any sane company would be hiring an experienced IT team or consultancy
group to do this. Are you being made a scapegoat?

People do talk of learn as you earn, but a 5000 node corporate network
is NOT the place to do that. I am not discouraging you, BTW - just that
I don't know where to start advising you from. Not to mention that it
is getting way off-topic here.

Anyway, in another mail, Devdas recommended a few books. Between those
books and CCO, you can possible make a start. All the best.
