Well, it seems that you have not done some homework or RTFineM.

1. Linux clients don't require SAMBA to connect to the Linux server.
2. Win9x clients require SAMBA to access shares on your Linux server.
3. SAMBA mimics WinNT's CIFS using the SMB protocol, hence the name.

So,

1. Set up SAMBA using SWAT or Webmin.
2. Windows recognises a computer by an unique name given to it called the
netbios name. In linux its the hostname. When setting up your server you
have given it a hostname, use the same as its netbios name.
3. Give a workgroup name,set secuirty=user, set domainlogons=yes in SWAT
among other things. SWAT has extensive help for each option. Please read and
understand them.
4. On Win9x clients set workgroup name to the name given in SAMBA. Set Logon
on to Domain and set the domain name to the workgroup name. Set primary
logon to MS Networking.
5. Create users in linux. Add those users to SAMBA through SWAT. U can
assign passwords also.
6. Once u logon the linux server will be visible in your browse list.

The above is just a brief guideline. Please lookup HOWTOs and SWAT online
help for details.

Regards

Ami
