The 10k price-tag is no longer a reality... a full featured simputer costs
upwards of 20k and even the basic models cost over 14k IIRC... and compared
to all the other PDAs in the market the Simputers are really bulky.

I don't think it's a good idea to be overly religious about using a PDA that
runs Linux... try the Sharp Zaurus.. if you really want a good Linux PDA..
there are lots of other PDA which run decent Operating Systems that come from
places other than Redmond.

Almost any PDA that can "talk" Obex should work fine with Linux
desktops/laptops.

Depending on the functionality you require in the PDA .. maybe one of the
low end Palms might be a more cost effective solution.

You can get Simputers from either Encore or Picopeta.

Not an easy task... the biggest issue is power consumption... making sure
that your hardware conserves maximum power to offer the longest possible
battery life is the biggest issue.

There are some Linux distro's for Palms too... and the Psions run Linux
pretty well... and they even come with a full-fledged keyboard.
