Hi,

I am trying to get my squid cache on a sun box running debian(kernel 2.4.19
no smp)work with my cisco router on WCCP version 2. My squid version is 2.4
stable6 and my cisco IOS is 12.2(12a).My squid is configured as a
transparent proxy and its local config is fine.

My wccp is working fine with another proprietary box on ethernet1 of my
router(on which this box also is plugged).
The linux box generates wccp packets on UDP port 2048 and the router debug
log shows me messages saying:

1w2d: WCCP-EVNT:???: Unknown msg_type 7 on Ethernet1 from a.b.c.d
1w2d: WCCP-EVNT:???: Unknown msg_type 7 on Ethernet1 from a.b.c.d
1w2d: WCCP-EVNT:???: Unknown msg_type 7 on Ethernet1 from a.b.c.d
1w2d: WCCP-EVNT:???: Unknown msg_type 7 on Ethernet1 from a.b.c.d

(where a.b.c.d is my linux box IP address; Both router and linux box are on
the same subnet, if that makes a difference...?)
Is this message coming because the wccp packets have to go via GRE? My
kernel does'nt have a gre module as of now.
I have been checking out on the internet for sites that could guide me to
get this thing up but with no luck. Could anyone point me in the right
direction?
I would appreciate help on this. Thanx.
