Hello all,
I installed redhat 8.0 and I'm having problems with my LAN card. The card is
a Realtek 8139C. The driver module is installed. However when RH boots, it is unable
to bring up the NIC. The error I recieve is :
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy
After booting if I do a ifconfig, I get the same error.
The 'dmesg' command gives me the following :
ip_tables: (C) 2000-2002 Netfilter core team
8139too Fast Ethernet driver 0.9.25
PCI: Enabling device 00:10.0 (0004 -> 0007)
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 00:10.0. Please try using pci=biosirq.
divert: allocating divert_blk for eth0
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xcf862000, 00:e0:4c:e3:62:ff, IRQ 0
eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C'
As you can see the IRQ is 0 for the card. I 'think' this is the reason why I'm unable
to activate the card. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) How can I assign the proper
IRQ since RH doesn't seem to autodetect it?
Moreover, how do I use "Please try using pci=biosirq."?
Moreover, I read somewhere that Linux does not support IRQ > 15 and if APIC is
disabled, it would be able to. I have a P4S533-MX ASUS motherboard. How can I disable
APIC in it? Is it possible to disable it through grub, like it is possible through
lilo.
I've been struggling with the NIC for 3 days, any help would be most appreciated. :)
