Hi

I am having a problem with a ISI 5634 PCI/8 Multitech multiport card.
Me have setup a dial-in server using mgetty in RH8. At least once in 5
dial-ins the card misses a connection. ie ,the client gets an endless ring
tone. Why would this happen? The ports are ttyM1a,ttyM1b ... etc.

I tried resetting the respective ports when pppd detaches from the port
by giving a program in /etc/ppp/ip-down.local. But no help.

Another strange situation is that when dialing-in from Windoze 98/95 I
have no problem in disconnecting after a specific time. Of course , it may
miss the rings at time, but on redial most of the time I get a connection.
The problem is when the Windoze XP clients are used. The port gets locked
often after a missed connection ,or even after a decent dial-in. Most of
the time me have to cold boot the XP. The problem persists even when the
internal modem (HSP56) is replaced with an external one ( here, I need
only to switch off and on to reset).

But the d**n thing connects well and disconnects decently to a BSNL
Internet number.

Is it a problem of the Multitech port ? Or is it with XP. I use PAP
authentification. Is it a problem with RH8 mgetty? Once again let me
point out that WIn98 has'nt given me a trouble.

regards

Nataraj
