The Via driver CD comes with linux drivers that work fine...
There is a driver in the standard kernel (the same as above ??) that also
works.

Alsa(alsa-project.org) supports the on-board sound too...
 Card: VIA 82C686A/B
 Chip: Analog Devices AD1881A

I've been using it for the past 3 years... initially with the driver which
came on their CD... and have been using Alsa a few weeks after that.
