Hi ,
I started installing redhat 9.0 in pentium IV 2.4ghz with 512 MB RAM has intel 845GVAD@ mother board and display as intel 845 .
I have selected the display settings as 800*600 and its 16 bit colour .
After the instalation when i boot i m getting the screen as some signal not any display but mouse ikpn alone shows as 'X" .
when i tried redhat-config-xfree86 the display comes and i am able to select the screen type but the X server still not running .
PLs give me some tips on this .

Try
# XFree86 -configure
this should give you a XFConfig.new file
run it using
XFree86 -xf86config /root/XFConfig.new
This should give you X running with the best resolution available
if it works, then copy it to /etc/X11/XF86Config
and run
# startx
