As you can see there were two replies and I tried both. I am baffled by the output as
below:
OUTPUT 1:
# /bin/dmesg | grep eth0
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xf88d4c00, 00:80:48:15:8b:f9, IRQ 11
eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C'
eth0: Setting 100mbps full-duplex based on auto-negotiated partner ability 45e1.
OUTPUT 2:
]# /usr/sbin/ethtool eth0
Settings for eth0:
Supported ports: [ TP MII ]
Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
Advertised link modes: Not reported
Advertised auto-negotiation: No
Speed: 10Mb/s
Duplex: Half
Port: MII
PHYAD: 0
Transceiver: internal
Auto-negotiation: off
Supports Wake-on: pumbg
Wake-on: d
Current message level: 0xffffffff (-1)
Link detected: no
Why should the two utilities report different?? Any one who can tell which is the
correct output?
