Your query on LIH.
I have used QCAD and VariCAD. QCAD is open VariCad has licensing but
compared to AutoCAD very cheap and from what ever we could make out in
our machanical parts drawing fully compatible to AutoCAD files. QCAD
only uses dxf type files so if one was to migrate the older files will
have to be first saved as dxf in AuotCAD.
IMHO QCAD should be fine for drafting work.
